Description
In TOMBSTONE, scent becomes memory, perfumes that stand as small memorials and whispered confessions.
Each creation —hand-carved, uncompromisingly crafted— offers an intimate encounter: to remember, to stare into the abyss, and from there, to recognize the fierce brilliance of being alive.
“Death could be a warm embrace awaiting me — the coffin, my home sweet home.”
Sweet Coffin envisions death as a return — tender, inevitable, undesired yet strangely comforting. Perfumer XIAO Lan constructs this fragrance not as an escape, but as a resting place: quiet, decayed, intimate. A coffin not feared, but welcomed.
The opening carries a soft apricot glow, like the last pleasant memory before everything grows still — a fragment of sweetness one holds for a moment before letting go. Then the descent begins: dusty cedarwood, rotten bark, molded shadows, wood collapsing into earth, time pressing into grain and splinter. From top to base, nutmeg threads the composition with a dry, ritual heat, like incense burned at the end of something beloved.
What remains is melancholy and earthy, warm yet lifeless — the sweetness fading into solitude, the memory slipping from the hand until only silence stays. Sweet Coffin is not a perfume of mourning, but of surrender. A final exhale. A room with no windows, only peace.
It is dark, introverted, oddly tender — a fragrance for those who understand beauty in rot, softness in endings, home in the quiet soil.
Top notes: willow bark and apricot.
Heart notes: mouldy cedar and nutmeg.
Base notes: dead water.
