Boa Madre is a tribute to René Gruau, the Italian master of fashion illustration who defined twentieth-century elegance. From 1947, with the New Look, to his work with Dior, Givenchy, and Balmain, Gruau transformed lines and silhouettes into icons of sensuality, nobility, and strength. He said: “The line is the basis of all creations: a single line can express greatness, nobility, sensuality; it is the synthesis of all sensations.”
In Boa Madre, this philosophy is transformed into fragrance and form: the bottle echoes feminine hips and ostrich eggs, symbols of life and origin. The egg, the primordial seed of all existence; the boa, a serpent winding through creation; and Mother Earth, the source of life itself.
Cristian Cavagna took the flora of Musa Paradisiaca and combined it with fauna and myth: ostrich feathers caressing the serpent, evoking strength and sensuality, birth and mystery. Every gesture of this fragrance is a stroke of art, a moment where illustration and perfumery meet.
The illustration for Boa Madre was created by Polina, carrying forward Gruau’s legacy of elegance and distinction into the twenty-first century.
Top notes: tuberose, banana leaves, ginger and pink pepper.
Heart notes: tuberose absolute, jasmine, orange blossom, iris pallida and ylang ylang.
Base notes: agarwood, sandalwood, Tonkin musk, Costus saussurea, birch, leather, civet, ambrette seeds, oakmoss and castoreum.
